A note from our founder: The Launch of The NWSL

A note from our founder

When I set out on this journey it was to establish merchandise parity across football, I wanted the fans of the game to have access to their favourite club and national jerseys adorned with their favourite female players across the back.  Most believed there was no market but I knew there was no access.  Fans simply did not have access to the merchandise they wanted.  Foudys were the first place in the world where you could get your Women’s Football shirts.  Every time I see a club, a nation or a retailer adding women’s merchandise, I feel proud because I know we were first.  Foudys have disrupted enough to make others stand up and take notice.

However, for me there was always one piece missing, a significant piece at that.  I have long been a fan of the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League), watching our friends across the pond sell out stadiums, fans adorned with their favourite player names on their back, for me it was inspirational.  I am lucky enough to have been able to go out and experience the NWSL and I just love how they do ‘soccer’ in the states.  A couple of years ago myself, my sister and some friends joined the Sirens, the San Diego Wave supporters’ group, for tailgating while watching the opening games of the season.  The atmosphere, the people, the community, the WEATHER… it was just awesome from start to finish.  I ended up going back a year later with my best friend Mary and enjoying a game at Angel City, meeting up with our ambassador and co-founder of the club Julie Foudy!

I knew that if I loved it and the people around me loved it then others in Europe did too.  The only issue?  Access to the merchandise!  Unlike before you can get an NWSL jersey from the USA but the premium you pay over and above what you would pay in the US didn’t sit right.  And so, operation bring the NWSL to Europe was born!  In all honesty, I cannot believe it has happened this quickly but I always knew one day it would happen.  It gives me immense pride to be able to deliver this offering to our customers, to fans of the women’s game.  Personally, I cannot wait to pull on my brand new Portland Thorns jersey bought from Foudys.com.

The NWSL will launch on Foudys on 28th February 2025 with limited stock this time around. But don't worry, it's here to stay and we'll make sure we restock in 2026 and beyond!
